You may remember many, many months ago, I talked about applying for my job as a permanent role. Anyway, I applied. About a month later, I had an interview. Then nothing... nothing... nothing.
I didn't get the job.
To be honest, considering what I've been told about the successful applicant's strengths, I don't even know what my job is. On paper, it's a data analyst role but I think they want something else entirely. I really don't do a lot of techical work which I'd much prefer to do. Instead it's more about government policy which, to be honest, is not what I want to be doing.
On top of that, I'm a goal oriented person. I like to work towards a target -- and smash that target to bits. In this job, I feel like I'm shooting at a target that may or may not even exist in a pitch black room.
In other words, I'm not that disappointed about not staying on.
On the other hand, my role finishes up in November (not sure when yet). That means I will have a job to come back to for a short period after I return from hols to Japan. But, and big but here, I'll be looking for a job at the worst time of year. Everything closes down until around the end of January here.
Having said that, my last two jobs have started around New Year so that's not a given.
Otherwise, I've got enough savings to live on and my living expenses are minimal so I am thinking of using that time to dedicate to my writing.
